I have had the good fortune to benefit from CrossFit both professionally and personally since I first discovered it in 2009. I was badly wounded while serving in the Korengal Valley in Afghanistan on December 27th 2007. I suffered burns requiring skin grafting, as well as a shattered right arm. For two long years I rehabbed, or I guess I tried to rehab. I wasn’t making any progress, in fact I was getting worse, both physically and mentally. I put on lots of weight, and turned towards alcohol as an escape from the lingering emotional issues bought on by serving. It was that a friend forced me to go to the on post gym with him, to do a workout he told me was called “The filthy fifty”. What felt like an eternity later, soaked in sweat and exhausted, I was certain of two things: whatever this “CrossFit” thing my friend was into was hard, and I needed to keep doing it.
Two months later, after two years of non progress, I was cleared from rehab. CrossFit changed my life. I knew then that I wanted to spend my time helping others improves their lives through CrossFit, and I set my sights on opening a gym. Now in 2014, with one gym behind me and more than 5 years of training athletes under my belt, I am excited to be heading up Concord’s newest CrossFit gym, CrossFit Ironborn! I’m looking forward to helping the athletes of the capitol area for years to come! I love helping people, lifting weights, dogs and football, and if you get me started on one of those topics, good luck shutting me up!
I was born and raised in Manchester, NH and have been doing CrossFit for three years now. I have always been passionate about sports and competition. I played various sports throughout my childhood, as as high school and college. Currently, I am a competitive wakeboarder and enjoy doing Spartan mud races. I earned an associates degree in both Business Administration and Fire Science and am currently a firefighter for the City of Manchester, NH.
